Central Southland Computer Services
celebrates 10 years
English immigrants Stew and Emma Bryan arrived off
the plane in January 2004, happy to be here but with
no real idea of what would come next. Within days
Stew was pounding the pavements in Invercargill looking
for work and his computer technician skills quickly landed
him a job with the company then known as Computerland.
The couple settled in Winton and word soon spread of
Stew’s way with wayward computers. Within months he
found himself spending his evenings and weekends working
on people’s home computers from their spare bedroom.
Demand continued to grow and Stew progressively reduced
his working hours in Invercargill, ultimately taking the
plunge in September that same year to establish Central
Southland Computer Services.
The following year work had outgrown the spare bedroom
and a growing family needed the space. A new home came
with a large shed which became the business headquarters
until, in August 2006 and having recently had their first Kiwi
baby, they took the plunge and opened a store on Winton’s
Great North Road.
Emma is an equally important part of the business, taking
care of administration and upskilling herself to be able to
deal with sales and minor fixes. For the past three years the
couple has been ably assisted every Wednesday by Katrina
Central Southland Computer Services’ motto is
“Computers without the bull”. They openly recognise
that they can’t compete solely on price when it comes to
equipment sales but they stand by everything they sell and
pride themselves on their after sales service. They also
understand rural business so if Stew has to come to you
he’ll charge for the mileage but not for his time until he’s
actually arrived at your door.
CSCS specialises in supporting small businesses, farms
and home computer owners. One of their most popular
services of late has been point to point wireless links,
enabling your home broadband to be accessed from the
To celebrate 10 years in business this month Emma and
Stew have a special promotion on offer. For every sale over
$100 you’ll be entered in the draw to win either a 21.5” LED

CSCS is open Monday to Friday 9am-3pm or Stew is
contactable by cellphone on 021-185-4676 Monday to
Friday 8.30am-6pm. If he doesn’t answer immediately it
means he’s on a job so please leave a message and he will
get back to you as soon as possible. Check out their website
