Winton’s first Fun Run takes place on
March 3rd with funds raised being
donated to the development of a skate
park for the town.
Which such strong support, 2013 is shaping up
to be an exciting year for the Winton Skate Park.
Plans have been unveiled and the organising
committee has been granted Charitable Trust
status, enabling members to busily work on a
string of small fundraisers. In fact it’s fair to say
they’re now experts at sausage sizzling!
The Skate Park Committee is grateful for the
support of the local community, including those
who have generously donated items and funds
for the development of the park and the many
more who have volunteered to help with its
construction. Knowing the community is right
behind the project is a great encouragement to
The committee is now in the throes of a
full costing of the project and some bigger
fundraising projects are in the works.
The Skate Park committee is extremely thankful
to Alana and Julia who have been working so
hard to establish the Winton Fun Run which will
directly benefit the Winton Skate Park. It is
a very exciting event for Central Southland
and they’re sure everyone will get behind
such a fun event happening in our ‘own
The skatepark will be constructed on
the site next to the centennial park,
which is hosting the Winton Fun Run.
The very first Winton Fun Run kicks off at 10am
Sunday the 3rd of March. Participants can
choose to either bike,
walk or run over
10km distance. There’s something for everyone!
Many talented sportspeople will be in attendance,
competing hard to take out titles. However,
there’s just as much fun for those
who are not so competitive.
Families are encouraged
to take the kids out.
